Support During

During your placement you will be supported by various people and roles.

Mentor

Your mentor(s) will be your main support whilst on placement and you should discuss and try to resolve any issues with them at the time they arise.  You or your mentor can contact the link lecturer or the university at any point for further support.

Placement Staff

As well as your mentor, the rest of the staff team are able to support you with questions you may have or when your mentor is not present.  Ensure you build and use the supportive relationships with the staff team to ensure you get the most from your placement experience.

Inter-professional Practice Support Teams

The Inter-professional Practice Support Teams (IPSTs) consist of academic lecturers who support practices in their area.  The representatives in this team will support the mentors and placement staff whilst they are delivering learning to students in practice.  The representatives will visit the practice whilst you are on placement and be available for contact throughout your placement if you need to speak to them.  They may contact you by email, phone or a direct visit whilst on placement to ensure you are progressing well.  The link (IPST teams) will give you more information on these teams.

Practice Placement Team

The practice placement team is based at the University and arranges and allocates the placements you will be attending.  They can be used as a point of contact for any queries you have that require the attention of the University.  They can be contacted on UoLpractice.support@lincoln.ac.uk and will reply usually within 48 hours.

Student Evaluations of Practice Experience (SEPE)

All students are asked to complete a SEPE evaluation after practice to feedback on their experience. This information is used to address any concerns that have been raised and not resolved whilst on placement, help to suggest ideas for development to the practices and to feedback positive feedback to them.

Dyslexia

Support guide for students with dyslexia can be found here.

Reporting Absences

All students are expected to report any absence from placement to both the placement team/mentor and to the University.  The student should contact their placement at the earliest opportunity to report their absence and their likely return date.  Absence should then be reported daily unless signed off otherwise to placement so they are aware of when to expect you.  Students should report their absence to the University by logging on to PEMS and recording it there.
